DUCK RACE HICCUP
As you may know we faced many challenges on Boxing Day, but despite the odds being against us managed to run a successful event supported by thousands of people who turned out on a bitterly cold morning.
However, we had loaded the van before the Christmas break and on Boxing Day morning did not discover until too late that only 1500 and not 1800 individually numbered ducks went into the icy water.
We apologise most sincerely to ticket holders between 1501 and 1800 and have decided, to ensure a fair chance for all these ticket holders, to hold a special draw for these tickets using a random number generator.
Consequently additional prizes have been awarded as follows:
£75 to yellow, pink and green tickets numbered 1502.
£25 to yellow, pink and green tickets numbered 1761.
The winners have been contacted.

Boxing Day 2010 ~ Loins break ice so Ducks can race!
Despite the brook being frozen over in the morning, after a magnificent effort to break up the 2” thick ice the Duck Race over a shortened course was started at noon.
The atmosphere was quite special in a frozen landscape and the Lions would like to thank the many people who still came out in freezing conditions to support us.
The winning Ducks were:
First: 1057 Second: 1199
Third: 1383 Fourth: 935

CAROLS AT THE CASTLE 2010 CANCELLED DUE TO THE SNOW
Very regrettably we had no choice but to cancel our Carol Concert this year.
We started setting up this morning hoping the snow would just provide a spectacular setting but by mid-afternoon it became apparent that we could not continue. The amount of snow at and around the castle would seriously hamper people travelling to the event and prevent many of the performers from arriving.
This is the first time we have had to cancel this event.
Due to the nature of the event we are unable to re-schedule for another date before Christmas and it would lose its significance after the festive period.
We are sorry if you have been disappointed. The Kenilworth Lions are very disappointed at not being able to put on this event this year.

WAVERLEY DAY CENTRE
Following a successful Barn Dance in April £1012 was raised for the Waverley Day Centre.
This event was organised by Sarah Stear, wife of the Kenilworth Lions President Bob, together with Lions and their partners.
A cheque was presented to the Day Centre and the picture shows the cheque being presented by Florence, daughter of Sarah and Bob, to Rhoda, one of the centre users, at the Day Centre.
Pictured are Waverley Clients and Staff, Lions, and Lion Partners Standing: Judy Lee, Anne Cross (Centre Manager), Joan, Sarah Stear, Dennis Adcock and Pam Hutchinson.
